Who Is Tere?

We all like to think it's not all about us.  But really, it kinda is.  At least, when it comes to blogging, it usually is.  On this blog, I talk about what goes on in my life, random thoughts that occur to me, current topics that are in the news, and sometimes I just rant because I just need to let it out.

So how did I get here?

I grew up in a military family with a dad who eventually became "The General".  Mind you, he was far from being the military dad from "The Great Santini".  He was loving with just a little male toughness and our house was not run at all like a military battalion.  Mostly, that was due to my mother.

My mother was an amazing woman.  Her demeanor was quiet but strong.  She was way ahead of her time in the way she raised us.  As a very spiritual person, Mom taught us acceptance and tolerance of all religions, races, and ideas.  She was adored by me and my 3 siblings and when she died of breast cancer in 2005, it left a void in all of our lives.

I married at age 20 to my best friend.  We had 2 wonderful children, a boy and a girl.  We lived in Alabama for 16 years then moved to Tennessee for my job.  Four years later, in 2001, my husband passed away unexpectedly as a result of a heart attack.  My kids were 11 and 15.

We have had a long road with many bumps along the way but we are all doing well.  I have a great support system and my kids have grown up to be amazing people that I really like to spend time with.

My favorite quote is from the Jimmy Buffett song "He Went To Paris".

Jimmy, some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but it's been a good life all the way.

So, that's the short version.  There is a lot more about all of that here on this blog.  I hope you enjoy catching up and that you will continue to pop in again in the future.

And I really do feel like I've lived a great life so far. That's why I write about it.

Welcome!
